Official beginning

Sure, I had a ditch last week, but now I have something more. I have a foundation!



As expected/hoped, things have been moving well in the development. The photo above shows that my soon-to-be neighbour has just recently had their basement poured, so I have little doubt that I won't be looking at the same in seven days time. I wanted to look up the street again to see what, if anything, had been added to those homes with only foundations the previous week, but I met the family that will be moving in down there instead. They seem like very nice people (family of four) who are also very excited that we're finally seeing some development. Their closing date is scheduled 2-3 weeks earlier than mine is, but with at this point I guess I'm "two weeks" behind them, so it makes sense.

Looking around the neighbourhood, I don't see any other development started yet, but maybe I'll see it in another week or so (e.g., once they've finished with my side of the street). Overall, I'm still very excited about the progress, and while my "local spy" was incorrect in telling me I had a basement this past Thursday, I'm confident that I'll see it next week.

And so it begins...

Woo hoo!

I really can't explain how excited I was today to see this...



Okay, okay, okay... it might not look like much to you, but it means that I now own a hole! Yup, that's my hole (some might call it a "ditch", but I've decided to call it a "hole"), just this side of my neighbour's foundation that has finally been started. Until now, I'd just signed a bunch of papers, watched a bunch of money leave my bank account, and wasted tons of gas driving out to the site to see the same dirt I'd seen the week before.

And now I own a hole.

So, with construction started, this blog should see some sort of addition each week... even if it is only so I can complain that my photos this week look a lot like they did the week before (let's all hope this isn't the case).

Finally Happened

Well, it finally happened. No, they didn't start working on my home (more on that in a second)... I allowed more than a week to go by without adding anything to this. I know that the hordes of people who are following my every word must have been crushed. Yeah... whatever.

Anyhow, for the sake of the record, my friend who already lives in the area where I'll be moving too happened to drive by the other day and check on my place for me. Well, it seems like I still own dirt. No hole yet. With the date pushed back, I'm guessing that it'll be July at the earliest before I see any action over there. In the meantime, NL has agreed to drop around again next time he's out-and-about to have a look for me.
