Why a blog?
It's been awhile since I last wrote anything here. Now, given that I am probably the only person reading these posts at the moment, it is unlikely that my absence was missed. On the other hand, I didn't start this blog so that I could extol the wonders of my daily life, and I kept from playing about with one for so long because I feared that I start using it as an excuse not to eMail my friends (e.g., "I'm sure they're keeping up with my life by checking my blog").
So why did I start it then? I have no idea. Well, that's not entirely true. I started it because:
...and the (more-or-less) main reason that I started doing this was as to record the experience of my move. The building of the home, the actual moving day, the bills, the stresses, the learning... the whole experience. Unfortunately it has started with a three month delay. But I shouldn't complain since this is all part of the "moving into a new home" experience. So I guess, despite my frustration from the delay, it makes for a logical first step.
There you have it... a mission statement of sorts. A defence of sorts. And a message to say that I haven't forgotten about my little blog. Just haven't said much this past week (oh, and I've started using Firefox over IE, so my access to the "BlogThis" button is gone... although I think someone has written an extension for Firefox to mimic the BlogThis functionality. I love open source.)
Have a good night everyone.

(ha ha! I just tried the spell check function that Blogger offers... guess what the funniest "spelling error" it detected was? "Blogger"... followed closely by "blog".)
So why did I start it then? I have no idea. Well, that's not entirely true. I started it because:
- there are cool, interesting, informative, questioning, progressive, etc., blogs out there so there has to be something to all this;
- I like to troll blogs now and then; see what sort of 'normal' lives people are living... I guess it gives me a feeling of calm sometimes to realize that not everyone is globe trotting, jumping from planes, winning national awards, etc.;
- a whole bunch of the xhtml/css authors who are pushing web standards forward got in on this massive overhaul of the Blogger site. These people are doing a lot of very cool things on the web right now, and if they've taken the time to contribute to Blogger, then I want to try and find out what they saw in it (...hopefully more than just a great portfolio piece!)
